This colourful book is full of lively illustrations and exciting stories that make chess fun and understandable for children. Each chapter is packed with useful tips to improve your chess skills. Cédric Comhaire is a former lawyer who now teaches chess full-time, a passion that began at a young age and has never left him. As a child and teenager, he participated in numerous national and international chess tournaments, where he gained valuable experience and skills. Now he shares his knowledge and love for the game with the next generations through teaching and writing educational materials.
Cas D'Haenens, a passionate chess enthusiast and self-proclaimed ADHD creative, uses his talent to paint a mesmerising picture for anyone taking their first steps into the world of chess. With infectious enthusiasm and a unique take on the game, Cas hopes to inspire novice chess players and give them a taste of the beauty and depth that chess has to offer.
"It is an illustrative chess book, intended to get different generations of children excited about chess. Cédric took this inspiration from the teacher who taught him the game of chess by using medieval fables. ‘This could be more original,’ thought Cédric. His niece loves animal stories and he thought, why not explain the movements of chess pieces through animals? In six stories, based on the six different chess pieces, the movements and actions of the pieces are explained."
"An original idea by all means: an illustrated chess book that aims to get children and young people excited about the noble board game. Cédric Comhaire is a former lawyer who now teaches chess full-time and took part in numerous national and international chess tournaments as a child and teenager. Together with his friend and illustrator Cas D'Haenens he decided to spread the holy fire of chess through an animal story, with Panda Pim, bees, a lion and a bull, showing the rules of the game but also clever strategies and techniques."
"It is nice to see how my students, even the children who do not play chess, are so keen to read the book. The book is never in the classroom library, always a student reading it. I also have pupils who have read the book several times.
During classroom chess, there are pupils who explain it to others using Panda Pim's friends. It is definitely recommended for the classroom!"
"The wonderful world of chess is a fun book to introduce your child to chess. Through the individual animal stories, your child will learn what is special about each piece. There is also always a handy visual overview after each chapter. For my children, who are sometimes a lot in there head, this is a fun outlet. So I would definitely recommend this book."
"Lovely illustrated book for children who love chess (our boys 7 and 9 years old love to play it) or want to learn it. Beautiful work and initiative"
