Tournament Information

The tournament will not follow a knock-out system, meaning all players will get to play a full 7 rounds, regardless of their performance. Games will be played with a time control of 10 minutes per player, plus a 3-second increment per move.
Only children enrolled in chess lessons at the European schools of Brussels are eligible to participate. The event is limited to a maximum of 200 participants
The tournament will feature three main categories, organized according to player's age
Mini: P1 & P2
Maxi: P3, P4, & P5
Secondary: S1-S7
At the award ceremony, every participant will receive a medal as a keepsake of the event. The top three players in each category (mini, maxi, and secondary) will be honored with a trophy in recognition of their achievement.

Cantine scolaire
The cantine of the European school will sell snacks and drinks throughout the event.

A team of experienced chess teachers will host a free chess initiation, followed by fun hand-and-brain games for parents and siblings of the participants.

Your Next Move, organizer of the simultaneous exhibition with Garry Kasparov, is offering one ticket to the simultaneous exhibition with Nigel Short and two tickets to the qualification matches against the Belgian champion.
Printed Chess, a design-driven chess brand that creates modern, portable chess sets using 3D-printing technology, is sponsoring a personalized 3D-printed chessboard and providing the trophies for the top three players in each category.
